Your comparison
Where does your income fit?
Compare with all taxpayers
or with your age group.
Use total 2024 income before IRPEF, including rental income taxed under cedolare secca (the flat tax on rental income). The MEF measure excludes income reported in quadro LM (forfetario and regime di vantaggio). Gross salary, take-home pay, business revenue and wealth are different measures.
Enter an amount to see how many people report less, how many report more, and how many are in the same income band.
What you are comparing
The numbers, in context.
People reporting income
The comparison covers IRPEF taxpayers, including those recorded through the Certificazione Unica (the annual statement sent by the employer or the pension provider). It does not cover all residents or only workers: it also includes pensioners and people with other income sources.
Age groups, not individual ages
The source uses ages 0-14, 15-24, 25-44, 45-64 and 65+. A 30-year-old is compared with ages 25-44. This table cannot provide a ranking specifically for people under 35.
A range, with no invented precision
MEF publishes income bands, not individual amounts. We know the counts in lower and higher bands, but not the order within your band. The result therefore shows a minimum and maximum, without interpolation.
Declared income and wealth differ
The MEF total includes rental income taxed under cedolare secca, but excludes income reported in quadro LM under forfetario and regime di vantaggio. It therefore differs from the total excluding cedolare secca on the tax return, and does not measure accumulated wealth. The comparison describes these declared figures and does not estimate unreported amounts.
How do we handle unpublished cells?
For each age group, we subtract published counts from the official total. The remainder stays unallocated: for a set of bands, the minimum includes known counts, while the maximum may include the remainder. If the set contains every missing cell, the whole remainder belongs to it. We do not reconstruct individual cells.
